A smooth and efficient service

Stansted to Luton chauffeur service between two low-cost hubs
From Ryanair's biggest base to easyJet's home airport, one driver takes you across the north of London with all your bags.
Stansted to Luton, across the north
Stansted to Luton chauffeur service is a private car, booked in advance, that carries you from Stansted Airport in Essex to London Luton Airport in Bedfordshire. The two airports are the main London bases for Europe's biggest low-cost airlines: Ryanair at Stansted, easyJet and Wizz Air at Luton.
The drive is about 54 miles and usually takes around 61 minutes. It stays north of London the whole way, using the M11, a short section of the M25 and the M1.
Your chauffeur tracks the arriving flight, meets you in Stansted arrivals with a name board and allows the first 60 minutes after landing at no charge. Every driver holds a Transport for London private hire licence and a DBS check, and Vinta runs under TfL Operator Licence 73850301.
Most bookings here come from travellers who arrive on one airline and depart on another, which nearly always means separate tickets. Families and groups on the way home to Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire use it too, as do business visitors to the offices and warehouses around both airports.
Read on for the motorway route, the pickup and drop-off, the coach and rail alternatives, how to plan a connection between two low-cost carriers, and which vehicle suits your party.
M11, a short stretch of M25, then the M1
The car heads south on the M11 to junction 6, joins the M25 at junction 27 and runs anticlockwise past the A10, the A1(M) at junction 23 and South Mimms. At junction 21 it takes the M1 north and leaves at junction 10 for Luton Airport. The stretch near South Mimms, where the A1(M) meets the M25, is the part most likely to slow, especially on Friday afternoons.
Cross-country roads through Hertfordshire offer a shorter line on the map, but they pass through towns and villages with lower speed limits. The motorway loop is usually the faster choice, and your driver checks both before setting off.
Pickup at Stansted, drop-off at Luton
Both airports have a single terminal. At Stansted, your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with your name; at Luton, the car stops in front of departures, without the DART shuttle that rail passengers use.
Connecting between Ryanair and easyJet
Separate tickets on different airlines mean your bags won't be sent on. You'll reclaim them at Stansted and check them in again at Luton, where easyJet and Wizz Air both close bag drop 40 minutes before departure.
Check in online for the Luton flight during the drive. Arriving with the boarding pass ready takes one queue out of the day, and leaves only bag drop and security between you and the gate.
Coach, rail or car
There's no direct train between the two airports, and rail via London means the Stansted Express, a cross-city Tube ride, Thameslink north and the Luton DART. Coach links exist, but they run less often than the London routes.
A private car keeps it to one journey. For two or more people, it's often the simplest and least tiring option.
Groups flying home together
Sports teams, hen parties and families often split flights between these airports. The Sprinter minibus carries up to 19 people with 16 bags, on one fare for the vehicle.
Towns along the way
The route skirts Harlow and Epping on the M11, enters Hertfordshire on the M25 and passes close to Potters Bar and St Albans before the M1 reaches Luton. If you live near any of them and aren't flying on, the same service can finish at your door.
Early departures and overnight stays
Both airports send a busy first wave of European flights from around 06:00. If your Luton departure is early, a late-evening run from Stansted to an airport hotel can be the calmer plan, and the M1 is usually quiet at that hour.
What your fare covers
One fixed price covers the car, the driver, fuel, tolls, parking, flight tracking and the first hour of waiting. It's paid by card when you book, and nothing is added on the day.
A connection time that works
Allow three and a half hours between landing at Stansted and departing Luton. Border control at Stansted, the hour on the road and Luton's security all need room, particularly on Friday evenings and summer weekends. For a flight in Luton's early wave, stay near the airport the night before.
Choosing the vehicle
Two people with cases fit a Business Class saloon. The Business Van/SUV, a Mercedes V-Class, takes 7 passengers with 7 bags, and child seats are fitted on request. Golf bags and bikes need a van, so mention them when booking.

Hourly hire starts from £50 an hour with a short minimum, full days are quoted as a package, and point-to-point runs are fixed by distance and vehicle. Every quote includes the driver, the car, waiting time and a generous mileage allowance, with no meter, no surge and nothing to settle at the end.
