A smooth and efficient service

Gatwick to Heathrow chauffeur service for onward flights
Arrive at Gatwick from Europe, meet your driver outside baggage reclaim and reach the right Heathrow terminal for your long-haul departure.
Connecting from Gatwick to Heathrow
Gatwick to Heathrow chauffeur service is a private, pre-booked car that collects you at Gatwick's North or South Terminal and delivers you to your Heathrow departure terminal. Most people who book it arrive from a European city at Gatwick and fly long-haul from Heathrow, often on British Airways from Terminal 5.
The drive is about 45 miles and lasts around 55 minutes in clear traffic. It uses the M23 north and the western side of the M25, the stretch that carries more traffic than almost any other motorway in the country.
The driver follows your inbound flight, waits in the arrivals area with a name board and gives you the first hour free after landing. All Vinta chauffeurs are licensed by Transport for London and DBS-checked, and the company holds TfL Operator Licence 73850301.
Unlike most airport runs, this one ends with a second check-in, so timing matters more than anything else. The chauffeur's job is to turn a short-haul arrival into a relaxed long-haul departure, with your cases reclaimed, loaded and delivered to the right Heathrow door.
Here you'll find the route north to Heathrow, how pickup works at Gatwick's two terminals, the rail and coach alternatives, how much connection time to allow and which car to choose.
North on the M23, west on the M25
From Gatwick the car climbs the M23 to meet the M25 at junction 7, then runs clockwise past Reigate, Leatherhead and the A3 at Wisley. After the M3 at junction 12 it reaches junction 14 or 15, depending on your terminal, for the final approach.
This section of the M25 is heavily used from early morning to evening. Your chauffeur checks the traffic before collecting you and builds a margin into the plan, while the price stays exactly as quoted at booking.
Picking you up at Gatwick North or South
Gatwick's two terminals each have their own arrivals hall. Share your flight number and the driver waits in the correct one with your name, meeting you as you leave customs. If a late gate change lands you at the other terminal, the driver simply moves across and meets you there.
At Heathrow, the car heads for the terminal your airline uses: Terminal 5 for British Airways, Terminal 2 for many Star Alliance carriers, and Terminals 3 and 4 for others. You're set down at departures, close to the check-in zones.
From a short-haul arrival to a long-haul check-in
Separate tickets on two airports mean your bags aren't sent on for you. You'll collect them from the belt at Gatwick and check them in again at Heathrow, so leave room in the plan for both steps.
Passengers arriving from inside the Common Travel Area, such as Dublin or Jersey, usually skip passport control at Gatwick and reach the arrivals hall faster. Arrivals from Schengen countries queue for UK border checks, which can take anything from ten minutes to well over an hour at busy times.
Busy days on the western M25
Weekday mornings between 07:00 and 10:00 and Friday afternoons are the slowest times on this motorway. Your driver plans around them, and a flight landing in the middle of the day often gives the clearest run to Heathrow.
Getting across without the train
Rail between Gatwick and Heathrow goes through London, usually Thameslink to Farringdon and the Elizabeth line west, or the Gatwick Express and the Heathrow Express with a hop between Victoria and Paddington. National Express also runs a direct coach.
A chauffeur avoids those changes and the crowds on them. You carry nothing heavier than your passport from the arrivals hall to Heathrow's kerb. The coach may be the cheaper answer for one person travelling light, but two or more people with long-haul cases often find the private car closer in cost than they expected.
Protecting a long-haul departure
Long-haul check-in often closes 60 minutes before departure, and Heathrow security can be slow at peak times. Leave four hours or more between your Gatwick landing and the Heathrow flight, especially on weekday afternoons.
Room for a family's luggage
Long-haul trips mean big cases. The Business Van/SUV seats 7 people with 7 bags, and the Mercedes-Benz Vito takes 8 passengers with 10 bags, so a family doesn't need two cars. Child and booster seats are fitted on request, and the driver loads every case at Gatwick and unloads it onto a trolley at Heathrow.
